ABOUT NATIONAL LIBRARY

After the independence of India, the National Library came into being in place of Imperial Library by the “Imperial Library (Change of Name) Act” in 1948. It was accorded a special status of an institution of national importance in the Article 62 in the Seventh Schedule of the Union list of the Constitution of India and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the then Union Minister of Education opened the Library to Public on 1st February 1953.

NATIONAL LIBRARY CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 2020 THROUGH ONLINE YOGA WORKSHOP

National Library celebrated International Yoga Day 2020 though a Online Yoga Workshop in collaboration with Heartfullness. Ms.E.Gajalakshmi, ALIO introduced the Organisation and  explained about the programme. Dr.K.K.Kochukoshy,OSD, National Library delivered a welcome address. Dr.Partha Sarathi Das, ALIO administrator of the GotoMeeting app hosted the whole program. The program was also attended by the Officers and Staff Members of the Library. The online demonstration of yogic postures was followed by a lively interaction of the participants with the resource persons. Around 50 participants attended in the said Workshop.Mr.Akhlaque Ahmad, ALIO delivered vote of thanks.
