NATIONAL LIBRARY CELEBRATES WORLD BOOK DAY 2020
National Library of India today organised a Webinar
on “BOOK
: A FRIEND WHO NEEDS NO SOCIAL DISTANCING” by Dr. Chandana Aditya,
Assistant Professor of Psychology, Womens’ College, Kolkata to celebrate the
World Book Day 2020.
Around eighty participants from across the country
participated in the Webinar. The deliberation was followed by a lively
interaction of the participants with the resource person. The excerpt of the
webinar is also given below.
Dr.K.K.Kochukoshy, Officer-on-Special Duty
delivered the welcome address. Ms E.Gajalakshmi, ALIO compered the entire
program. She introduced the resource person and introduced the concept of the webinar.The
vote of thanks was delivered by Dr.Partha Sarathi Das, ALIO.
The virtual program was conducted through Videoconferencing through
GoToMeeting Application. The entire virtual program is conceptualised, designed
and digitally managed exclusively by the In-house team of National Library of
India for the first time in history of the National Library as one of the step
to reach out the citizens of this country during the lockdown period.
About
the Resource Person
Dr.
Chandana Aditya joined the department of Psychology in the capacity of
Assistant Professor from 1 st October, 2016. She was awarded her PhD degree in
2004 from University of Calcutta inApplied Psychology. Title of her PhD
Dissertation is “Effect of Hindusthani
Music (Instrumental) onthe Emotional Arousal and Catharsis in Relation to
Personality Dispositions”. She completed her BEd in Special Education in
2005-2006 sessions. She received National Scholarship in Under Graduate Level
and qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) for lecturer ship in 2013. She is
Lifetime Member of IIP and IARA. Annual and renewable member of RCI and affiliate
member of IPS. She received training in clinical psychiatry in her PG days. She
is also undergoing training in Psychoanalysis from Indian Psychoanalytical Institute functioning under the Indian
Psychoanalytical Society (IPS). She is currently working as a Guest Editor of
special issue of EAI endorsed journal with the tentative title of: Prevention and Control of Communicable
Diseases : ICT Solutions for Smart Cities. She is engaged in research works
on different areas like stress and mental health, psychiatric issues,Organizational
Psychology and HRM. Her current focus of research is Values and Ethics:

NATIONAL LIBRARY ORGANISES CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP DURING LOCK DOWN PERIOD
Thirty young minds from across the country came
together to learn, to create, to ideate and to weave their imagination
through creative writing as they joined a Creative Writing Workshop
though a virtual platform today.
National
Library of India today started an Online Creative Writing Workshop on
"Telling tales in the time of pandemic - workshop on short story
writing, climate fictions and better future" exclusively for the school
children. Today is the first day of three day workshop sessions, to be
continued on 26 and 28 of April, 2020.
Around thirty children from different schools across the country participated in the Workshop.
The
session was conducted by Mr. Rajat Chaudhuri, novelist and climate
fiction (cli-fi) writer. The Children actively took part in the
Workshop, followed by a lively interaction.

About the Resource Person
Rajat Chaudhuri has published
six books in two languages including fiction, translation and edited works. He
edited `The Best Asian Speculative Fiction' and is one of the editors of a
forthcoming Asia-Pacific solarpunk anthology. Chaudhuri’s climate change novel
sci-fi novel `The Butterfly Effect' is listed as one of `Fifty Must-Read
Eco-disasters in Fiction’ by Book Riot (US). He has won a number of writing
fellowships and international residency awards including Charles Wallace
Fellowship (UK), Hawthornden Fellowship (Scotland, UK), Ministry of Culture,
Korea (ARKO)-INKO residency award (South Korea), Villa Sarkia residency award
(Finland, invited 2020) and Sangam House residency, India. Chaudhuri has
given book readings and spoken about climate change, better futures,
storytelling and allied issues at the Museum of Science Fiction, Washington,
George Washington university, Hong Kong, University of Science and Technology,
Sahitya Akademi, Delhi, Dongguk University, Seoul, Chichester Univeristy, UK
